If you want reliable measurements, here are some tips to optimize the accuracy of your apex locator:
1- Check that your pulp chamber is emptied of all liquid content. The canals can remain moist, but the presence of blood, irrigation solution, etc. in the chamber can create an electrolytic bridge between the canals and distort the measurement.
2- Check that the charging power of the device is at maximum (always)
3- Use a hand file whose diameter roughly corresponds to that of the canal. For the measurement to be reliable, the instrument must come into contact with the walls of the canal.
4- Reproduce the positioning of the file 3 times before defining the working length of the upcoming treatment.
