The Gates TFRK drill is used to facilitate access to the instrument fragment, before proceeding to trim it.
This modified Gates drill is a size 3 drill whose tip has been shaved to create a plateau in contact with the fragment to be removed. The diameter of the drill at its end is 0.45mm. It is used just before the Trepan

Used in continuous rotation , at 800-1000 rpm.
