Technical description of the product
Description
The benchmark instrument for manual root canal retreatment
H-files, or Hedström files, are classic manual instruments essential in endodontics. Their constant-pitch spiral profile gives them exceptional cutting ability, particularly effective for scraping canal walls and removing residual obturation material during retreatment.
Main indication: root canal retreatment Once canal patency is restored using manual K-files and mechanized de-obturation instruments, H-files are used to clean the canal walls of residual gutta-percha and cement that remain adhered. Their pulling motion allows for effective scraping without the risk of screwing into the canal.
How to use them? H-files are used with a push then pull motion without rotation. They should never be forced or used with continuous rotational movement — they are fragile to torsion and must be used in very specific situations.
