The Z-Activator is a self-contained, ultrasonic handpiece used for solution activation within the canal once preparation is complete.

The Z-Activator is one of the so-called Ultra Sonic activators.
Passive Ultrasound Activation (PUI) produces a cavitation effect within the canal during the final irrigation phase. This activation allows:
- To eliminate canal debris stuck to the dentinal walls
- To eliminate residues of filling materials in cases of reprocessing
- To participate in the disintegration of the biofilm
- To clean isthmuses and other anomalies of endodontic anatomy
- To facilitate the detachment of the dentinal smear on the canal walls.
Ultrasonic activation is an excellent complement to the effects of irrigation solutions, whether disinfectant or chelating. It is particularly recommended with the use of Dual Rinse.

There The handpiece is self-contained and recharges on its base between uses. It is equipped with a long-lasting 1,500 mAh battery that allows up to 4.5 hours of continuous work. It also includes a charge level indicator.
Tips
Three types of tips are available (and one is supplied with the device)
Silver tips : These are "soft" tips dedicated exclusively to activating the irrigation solution within the prepared canal. The tip diameter is 25/100
Gold tips: More resistant than silver tips, they are used to remove dentin in a very specific manner (pulpoliths, canal overhangs, etc.) They are available in two diameters: 20/100 and 25/100
Blue tips : Intermediate in strength between silver and gold, blue tips are ideal for activating the irrigation solution but also for removing material residues that can be found on the canal walls.
The Z Activator is sold with one of each of the 5 tips and a tightening key.
The tips and key are also sold individually.
The handpiece can be disinfected but cannot be sterilized.
The inserts can be sterilized in an autoclave at 134°C.
