A solution designed by a Dentist, for dentists
Over the years of practice, Dr. Lionel Elbaz has identified a problem, both on the practitioner side and, even more so, on the patient side: practitioners spend a lot of time explaining to their patients what an X-ray shows. They don't always understand, or when they do understand and come back two weeks later, they've forgotten. It's obvious: practitioners have spent 6 or 7 years studying and can't expect a patient to understand what they're being told in about ten minutes. Moreover, in France, only 35% of patients decide to seek treatment after a dental consultation.
This massive abandonment of oral care has consequences on the general health of patients and is partly explained by the difficulty patients have in realizing the importance of being treated. To address this problem, Lionel designed Allisone for him and refined his design of the ideal product thanks to feedback from many colleagues. Today, Allisone is a dental X-ray analysis software that, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, facilitates patient communication and increases adherence to the treatment plan while improving the in-office experience and reducing treatment plan design time.
'Allisone'
It is first of all the first name of Lionel's first assistant with whom he really enjoyed working. It is a feminine first name whose vocation is to humanize artificial intelligence, but it is also pronounced “All is one” (or “tout en un” in French) and corresponds to Allisone's mission of bringing the technological building block to all the players in the dental ecosystem.
The genesis of the project
In September 2021, Lionel Elbaz developed a first minimal version of Allisone and asked around ten dental surgeons to test it, validating the solution's value in their practices and also with their patients. The result was clear: 9 out of 10 patients said they had a good understanding of their treatment plan thanks to Allisone.
Following this market validation, Lionel Elbaz joined forces with Sacha Samama, an engineer and former founder of a continuing education program in Artificial Intelligence, to lead product development. The team grew, and Allisone was launched in beta in the last quarter of 2021. Today, Allisone is supported by 40 employees committed to digitizing dentistry.
The ambition with Allisone is to facilitate patient understanding so that:
- Patients have greater access to preventive and minimally invasive care.
- Dentists benefit from a tool to facilitate patient communication and improve the rate of adherence to their treatment plans to bring greater comfort to their profession.
- Society as a whole has better oral health and, for all taxpayers, reduces the costs associated with major late treatments.
How does Allisone work?
- The practitioner imports his radio into Allisone.
- Allisone automatically analyzes the submitted radio and suggests its reading.
- The practitioner uses color codes to explain his analysis of the elements to his patient. He can annotate the radiograph by adding or removing elements.
- The practitioner builds their treatment plan in Allisone in just a few clicks and gives their patient their x-ray report, the recommended treatment plan, and the educational sheets so that the patient can keep track of it and refer to it if necessary.
What are the values brought to the practitioner and the patient?
Allisone is an artificial intelligence software for automatic analysis of dental X-rays intended for dentists. Allisone:
✅ Facilitates image reading: Where the human eye needs several minutes and a lot of experience, Allisone's Artificial Intelligence compares and evaluates millions of images in a second. Allisone reinforces or complements practitioners' reading to avoid missing small lesions and recognizes more than 500 implant references to reduce their analysis time.
✅ Makes it easier for patients to understand: Patient understanding and education are key to adherence to the treatment plan. Allisone uses color coding to highlight elements present on the X-ray. This allows patients to easily visualize what their practitioner is explaining and better understand the implications of the proposed treatment.
✅ Increases efficiency : Allisone also integrates treatment plan creation and automatic X-ray report generation to reduce the time spent on certain administrative tasks. By digitizing the patient file in the cloud, Allisone simplifies collaboration and data transmission within the practice as well as between tools.
✅ Improves patient experience: 95% of patients agree they get better care with digital solutions and 2 out of 3 patients would consider switching to a dentist
