Calcium hydroxide powder is intended to be mixed with sterile water in order to prepare extemporaneously a fluid or pasty medication, ready to use.

Free of any other form of excipient, pure calcium hydroxide is particularly useful in traumatology for the apexification technique or for long-term treatments of root resorption.

It also exists in the form of a ready-to-use and injectable preparation in a pasty version marketed under the name OPACAL.
