This short, solid insert is used to loosen posts sealed in root canals.
Once the coronal part of the post has been cut out, the insert allows the post to vibrate to cause it to loosen.
In order to avoid heating the root and the risk of damage to the periodontal ligament, it is advisable to alternate phases with and without irrigation (phases of 10 seconds each).
Always check that the emerging part of the tenon is clear and that nothing is preventing it from turning.
The GD8 insert can also be used to unscrew sealed tenons. However, if the tenons are made of nickel-plated steel (screwpost), it is advisable to reduce the power of use in order to avoid damaging the metal.
